South West Scotland CJA published its first Annual Report 2007-08 today. The report gives details of the progress we have made in our first full year towards improving the management of Offenders.
The Annual Report 2007-08 demonstrates how South West Scotland CJA is working towards the outcomes of the National Strategy for the Management of Offenders for communities, offenders and the system. Working together with all our partners some of our achievements include:
- Introducing multi-agency public protection arrangements (MAPPA) across the area. These are new monitoring arrangements for the management of registered sex offenders in the community, that contribute to the achievement of a safer and stronger Scotland. In the future these arrangements will be extended to the monitoring of violent offenders.
- A successsful bid to the Scottish Government for significant resources to establish a Programme Delivery Team. This is a new approach to delivering programmes that will address offending behaviour in the community
- The Turnaround Service which tackles the offending needs of young male prolific offenders with addictions issues has been planned and introduced.
- A conference highlighting the needs of offenders' families was held in partnership with HMP Kilmarnock and Families Outside. Based on feedback from this event and a survey of offenders' families a local team is developing a strategy for the engagement of offenders' families.
- contributing to the successful ongoing implementation and monitoring of Integrated Case Management (ICM), a multi-disciplinary system which manages offenders between custody and the community.
- Implementing Moving Forward a partnership with Jobcentre Plus to tackle the employability needs of offenders who have completed community penalties.
