annrep09South West Scotland CJA today published its Annual Report 2008-09. The report gives details of the continued progress we have made towards improving the management of Offenders in the second year of our three year Area Plan.

The Annual Report 2008-09 demonstrates how South West Scotland CJA is working towards the outcomes of the National Strategy for the Management of Offenders for communities, offenders and the system. Working together with all our partners some of our achievements include:
  • Developing the multi-agency public protection arrangements (MAPPA) across the area with the introduction a Strategic Oversight Group.
  • Introducing shortened Social Enquiry Reports at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on a pilot basis - a move which has been welcomed by Sheriffs.
  • Delivering a campaign to increase local awareness of Community Service and the work done through this scheme.
  • Continued to deliver work to improve the services for victis and the families of offenders.
  • The residential element of the Turnaround Service which tackles the offending needs of young male prolific offenders with addictions issues has become operational.
  • Developed an Arrest Referral Scheme across Ayrshire.
  • Develop a new service "Women in Focus" to support women on community services or returning to this area from prison.
