South West Scotland CJA has published its icon Area Plan 2008-11 (4.21 MB). It sets out our plans for the next three years to implement the icon National Strategy for the Management of Offenders (312.66 kB) at a local level. The plan was formally approved by Scottish Ministers in December 2007 and has been in operation since April 2008.

The best chance of interrupting offending and putting lives on track comes about through agencies working together. Our Area Plan 2008-11 sets out how our partners, agencies working with offenders, their families and victims, will develop and co-ordinate their efforts, skills and services to reduce re-offending.

The Profile of Offending provided a range of information about crime, demographics, re-offending, court disposals and custody. We used this information to identify several priority groups and themes which include:
  • Persistent offenders, including young offenders
  • Women Offenders
  • Violent Offenders
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Substance Misuse
The plan also includes information about some of the tools we are developing to deliver proven interventions, to use recognised risk assessment and to share appropriate information.

The plan also includes an action plan which sets our shared targets.
