South West Scotland Community Justice Authority (CJA) and the Scottish Government invite you to attend a half-day Community Payback Order Awareness Event on 16 September. The event will be run in Ayr in the morning and Dumfries in the afternoon (further details below). You are invited to attend whichever event suits you best.

Who should attend this event?
This awareness-raising event is aimed at staff across all CJA partner agencies who are interested in what the new CPO provisions will mean for them; how they will impact on their day-to-day business; and how they should start planning for the commencement of the new order.

More in-depth training will be provided at a later date for those staff wholly involved in delivering the CPOs. These initial events are focused on raising awareness across the wider CJA partners, where involvement in the delivery of CPOs may be less direct.

What will be covered?
The event will include input from the Scottish Government on the background to the CPO, what the new legislation says, and how it will work in practice. This will be followed by local inputs and workshop discussions on a range of issues, including: how CPOs can help reduce re-offending; issues involved in delivering CPOs; potential partner contributions to delivering CPOs; communication with communities/ community visibility; and next steps/ planning for implementation.
