South West Scotland Community Justice Authority Structure

Community Justice Authority

Our main decision making body is the Community Justice Authority (sometimes known as the CJA Board) which meets four times a year. It is made up of four Elected Members one from each of the local authorities in South West Scotland. Representatives of our key partners also attend.

A sub group of officers meet in advance to agree the agenda for the Community Justice Authority meeting.

Resource Allocation Group

South West Scotland CJA allocates funding known as the ‘Section 27 Grant’ to Criminal Justice Social Work Services in each of the local authorities. We also have an administration budget which covers the costs of the CJA office and staff. The Resource Allocation Group is responsible for agreeing an annual budget and monitoring our spending. It meets four times a year.

Area / Action Planning Implementation Group (APIG)

This group is responsible for preparing our Area Plan and Action Plan. It meets every six weeks and representatives from each of our partner organisations attend. The group then makes sure that we put our plans into practice and make progress towards our purpose of reducing reoffending and reconviction rates.

Issue Based Sub-Groups

South West Scotland CJA also has three sub-groups looking at particular issues identified in our area plan. These are:

From time to time we may set up further groups to take forward a particular project or piece of work.
