SWSCJA welcomes Justice Secretary to film launch

Kenny Macaskill MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Justice, visited South West Scotland for the premiere of The Ripple Effect - a victim awareness film and training toolkit.

Councillor Peter McNamara, Convenor of South West Scotland CJA, welcomed Mr Macaskill to the launch of ‘The Ripple Effect’ at the Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine on Monday, 16 January.

The film forms part of a staff training toolkit, which was also be launched at the event. The training aims to ensure that ‘victims voices are heard in the criminal justice system’ and features people from across South West of Scotland. Councillor McNamara said: “This is a challenging, moving and thought-provoking film which is at the heart of the CJA’s focus on victim awareness. We are providing an important resource for all staff working in the justice sector and with victims, an online toolkit that aims to increase understanding of the major impact that crime has on both individuals and their communities.

“I am absolutely delighted to welcome the Cabinet Secretary to view this film in North Ayrshire.”
