Young People: Community Alternatives

Working in collaboration with North Ayrshire Youth Justice Services "Young People: Community Alternatives" took place in Kilmarnock in October 2010 with over 120 delegates in attendance. Prof Fergus McNeill set the scene looking at different types of journey which could describe the process of desistance from offending; while Inspector Lynn Ross of Grampian Police presented the “Whole System Approach” – a pilot scheme based in Aberdeen which brings a wide range of agencies together in a fresh approach to issues of youth crime and offending. A series of workshops gave participants a flavour of some of the good work already going on across South West Scotland. This was the second of three events, sponsored by North Ayrshire Council's Youth Justice Services, designed to improve networks, relationships and joint working in the field of Youth Justice.
